Age: 52

Hometown: Hinxworth, Hertfordshire

Occupation: Self employed Building Services Consultant ( Procurement)

Married: Happily married ( 30 years ) with four children and a granddaughter

Most memorable day: In personal life the birth of my first child.
In fishing experiences a red letter day as a child of 14 catching nine different species of fish in a single day's fishing on the River Ouse at Tempsford, including a brace of 6LB tench.

Achievements in regards to barbel fishing: My first and biggest double figured barbel which resulted in a day's tuition with the legendary Trefor West on the Society's own Pewsham fishery on the Bristol Avon. Weighing in one ounce under 12lb.

Favourite Method: Fishing with a light leger and moving the bait gently along with the flow of the river gives me the greatest satisfaction but there is still a lot to be said for watching a motionless rod tip in low light conditions that suddenly leaps into action without warning.

Favourite Venue/ river: I appreciate all rivers they each differ in their appeal but deep down hold a soft spot for the River Kennet.

Achievements that may be relevant: Remaining happily married for 30 years nowadays is probably quite an achievement in the current world, and still being able to get away for fishing weekends whenever the occasion arises (providing enough brownie points have been earned when fishing is not on the agenda!)

What's The future for you and barbel fishing?: To continue enjoying my fishing as much as I have so far. For me catching fish is simply the icing on the cake, fishing is about socialising with friends and meeting new people who all share the same love for barbel.
